Every wedding that I've had the honor of documenting has been special to me... there is just something humbling about witnessing one of the most special, important days of a couple's lives in such an intimate way. As a photographer, I am lucky enough to be behind the scenes during every moment of the day, watching events unfold, emotions displayed, and once-in-a-lifetime moments take place.
Emily and Jeremy's wedding was extra special to me, even more than most of the weddings I photograph, because I personally know them and call them my friends. I met Jeremy while I was living in Spearfish, long before becoming a photographer was even a thought in my mind. He quickly became a very dear friend of mine, though we lost touch after he moved to New York City to pursue a writing career.
Fast forward six years, and I receive an email from a bride inquiring about wedding photography. Her name is Emily and she and her fiance (I didn't know his name yet) are getting married in Spearfish. Emily and I email and call one another back and forth, and she and her fiance book me. All of this goes on, and it isn't until I receive their contract that I realize that Emily is marrying none other than my good friend, Jeremy! Jeremy didn't realize it the entire time either--I have a new career as a photographer, plus a new married name he didn't recognize, so it was a complete surprise to him as well that I would be the one photographing their wedding. It is really amazing how, as Jeremy put it, "all of this transpired" and brought old friends back together. :)
Emily and Jeremy's wedding day was truly amazing. Not only because they are my friends, but because they are so obviously in love and adore one another. Like I said, every wedding I get to witness is special--but Jeremy and Emily's was one of the most special yet.
Congratulations again you two. I wish you nothing but the best in all you do as husband and wife.

Really beautiful work, looks straight out of a bridal magazine! The bride is just gorgeous and radiant, many congratulations to her and her groom.

ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, and amazing photos of a stunning couple! Love the light!
ReplyDeleteEmily and I were friends in college and I saw these pictures on her FB page. Your pictures are gorgeous (not hard when Emily is your model!). I'm an amatuer photographer who's done a few weddings and headshots here and there, and a recently engaged women, so I've been looking at a lot of wedding photography as of late. Yours is amazing.
